16 In the clue...

Does  29 A follow on from a previous clue?

NMA, yes, the S in 30 A  is wrong.

Sorry, I should have added - for clarity- that your T in 16 A was wrong.

Many thanks, all! Yes, NACW, 29 A follows on from 27a:

27a Coarse fellow admits nothing’s right. Beware! (4,3)… LOOK OUT

29a …and he finally embraces other ones! (5) ???GS

Ths last one holds me up from exploring the theme. Thanks for your help!

Thanks, Matakari.

27 has Lout forming part of the answer, 29 is Thugs.

Exploring the theme shouldn't take too long. The preamble mentions Brewer's, but it isn't really necessary.

Sorry, I meant to give the parsing for 29 as well as the answer. Thug, lout (as from 27), with the S from the end ('finally) of 'embraces'. Thugs, other ones/louts.

Thanks again, NACW, the theme is falling neatly into place now.

Thanks, Matakari. I found it a rather pedestrian puzzle!

PS I found Private Eye a little trickier than usual this time.
