Some bad stuff going around, Toorak.
Ditto, I hope that everyone starts to feel better soon - far too many people are ill :(
You can have a terrible Christmas (as I have had over the years with my work) Or you can just make the most of it and then it can be good.
There is Tony - I’m just glad that I’ve just got a cold
Lots of people are poorly, some permeantly so get a grip and make the most of it. Jeez, I can’t stand wingers who have no perspective.
I'll just put it on hold for about a week.
Not feeling that well myself. Hope it is just a 24hr thing.
Im really sorry for anyone feeling ill or alone.

My grandmother is refusing to join any of the family gatherings since she is fearful of catching something that might kill her. This is despite the fact that she has has 2 bad falls this year resulting in numerous broken bones because she refuses to use her walking aids. Her vicar (who was to conduct her funeral) has just died. She's peed off about that.

We are all frustrated because at 96 each Christmas could be her last.

Im not making light of your feelings, LB. And it's horrid that you are unwell. But if you can smile at a 96 year old's chagrin that her vicar predeceased her and it's all rather inconvenient please do.

Yes I can smile at that bm thank you.

I moved to SouthWest London in 1985 as well 237sj. We must know each other LOL.

Zacs mine is permanent as well. You don't get better from COPD. I hope I'm well enough to get myself up to the Yorkshire Dales next year.

Yes we may do. I live in TW12. I love how people here say there is a community spirit her. There isn't.

I lived in KT6, Surbiton. I did like it and it was a short train journey to London, and Richmond Park, and Hampton Court and Twickenham;-) In Hove now though.
The Surbiton line is quite good. We live on the Shepperton line (for our sins) It's nice here though. Do you miss living here?
Question Author
Yes I do and I enjoyed my time there but I miss the North Yorkshire Dales more.

Are you happy to spend the rest of your life in Twickenham?
ladybirder - My mum and dad retired to Hove (Wilbury Road, opposite the cricket ground) but I haven't been back since my mum died 22 years ago - I think it would make me incredibly sad.
Ladybirder - no. I find town people very fickle and I have struggled to live amongst them for 35 years. I have been home sick for 35 years.

I can understand that gg. I loved my maternal grandmother more than anyone when I was a child. And I knew she loved me. I went to her funeral when she died and promised myself to go and sit with her sometimes. I never did. Too sad. Feel bad about not going.
Question Author
Oh sorry 237. Will you be able to return to your 'home' after you retire?
Ladybirder your talking about places I know so well. I'm Wimbledon born and bred with family all over that area and grandparents in Whitton. Also my biggest wish is to get up to the North York Moors again. We always went twice a year and I so miss it. Apart from my recent Sepsis I have Chronic health problems.
So sorry you’re not well, LB. Covid has laid me really low this week and Christmas at my house is cancelled but I’m feeling much better tonight. I’ll even switch my computer on to do emails tomorrow! That’s progress!
I could but I like the city as well. What to do? Maybe just go and live abroad. I think that's the answer
