raised Temperature and green phlegm you should call your GP this morning post op chest infections are common, especially when that op has significantly restricted your movement. You will probably need anti biotics.. The blood may just be from the strain of coughing, combined with your blood thinners
Question Author
the gp did prescribe anti biotics, but that info doesn't seem to have got through to the chemist.
1ozzy....your quips about sqad and his replies are getting rather boring.

emmie,,,,the posts of calmck are all spot on.
Question Author
thanks sqad...
It depends on the antibiotic but there is some regional supply issues with amoxycillin atm according to a pharmacist on the news last night
Amoxicillin probably in short supply because of children with strep infection and prophylactic treatment of contacts

i can't get through to boots, they just don't answer their phone.

Barry, believe me when i say this is the hardest thing i have had to do.
i won't be doing it again.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend Ibuprofen as it can make your chest symptoms worse. I would speak to your GP ASAP though.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

LadyCG......re. your post......nobody has suggested Ibuprofen.
Why can't you take Ibuprofen for chest infections?
According to NHS advice, you can, squad.
Perhaps your mouth gets dry because your chest and nose are congested and you're breathing through your mouth. Keep a bottle of water handy.
Vagus, i know, i just wondered from where ladyCG got her information.
Emmie,

I won't directly address the usual childish digs made by one or two posters (they know who they are) and I'm sure 1ozzy's Ibuprofen post at 06:04 was just a tongue-in-cheek one, but when I had pneumonia two Drs told me that Ibuprofen isn't always the best when you have a chest problem.
Ibuprofen and or paracetamol is a standard over the counter. recommendation with chest infections including pneumonia.

ladyCG.......I just don't understand the concern of your 2 doctors, but they surely must have their reasons, which I respect.
