Hiya,i wonder if i could ask you wonderful people for some advice,basicaly for the past few months i have had a tender sternum,its at the bottom extending up a few inches,its a dull pain,not sharp,it dosent hurt when i breath in,but when i say hug my better half it makes it self known,i also have a small lump just below(about 1cm) the bottom of the sturnum about the size
Of a small acorn thats visible if one looks in the mirror,anyone come across something similar,any ideas of what it could be.ta.

Thanks for the reply,i will have a look into that,cheers.
It is almost certainly Costo-chondritis , the cause is unknown and it will go away on its own after about a month.
Ibuprofen 400mgms can help in the meantime.

The lump? Not enough information. Is it soft or hard, is it attached to the skin, is it inthe mid line?

Its mid line directly below the sternum,after looking at the links Buenchico shared,it looks like an epigastric hernia.Many thanks to botth of you for your replies.

Oh the lump is hard and feels like its attached to the muscle wall.
If the lump is hard, it is extremely unlikely to be an epigastric hernia.

See your GP.
