Bloody kindle!!! I recently bought some Kelloggs crunchy nut cornflakes and had a bowl this morning. I was shocked at the sweetness of the cereal. Looking at the ingredient list, it lists 35 grams of sugar per 100!!!!! I literally was like eating a bowl of sugar!!!!
Vile.
I had run out of porridge oats and bought some 'instant' porridge (not Ready Brek) to tide me over. Yeugh. It was just like spooning sugar into my mouth. We diabetics really have to look at the info on the packaging before buying.
I am also diabetic and some cereals are beyond when it comes to sugar!!! Porridge Oats = 0.5g per 100 - Weetabix 4.4dg per 100 and shredded wheat 0.9g per 100.
Oh I know! I had some a few weeks ago, never again..Why all the sugar? It's awful.
I tried some Shreddies last week, they're quite nice, slightly sweet tho.
I'm back to my Alpen no sugar now.
I bought that a few years ago. Nice taste but as you say soooo sweet!! I actually wrote to Kelloggs and said if they’d consider making a grown up version I would buy them again. They never did - and neither did I.
As a comparison Coco Pops are 17%. Of course, most people, kids included, don't eat the recommended portion size of any cereal - it barely covers the bottom of the bowl.
When I were lad it was normal to shovel spoonfuls of sugar on to cornflakes, weetabix and all cereals.
They put sugar in absolutely everything. If it’s so bad for us, they should be making things less sweet, not adding a load of horrible sweetners.
I can’t find a decent pickled onion or beetroot lately. Sugar is usually the second largest ingredient on the label and they taste far too sweet to me.
