Perhaps take a couple of paracetamols. Gradually the pain with ease off hopefully. The plaster itself will probable numb the pain in a while. It's made me feel a bit queezy reading about it.
Probably a bit late now Scarlett, but slap some sugar on it. Believe it or not this is one of the finest antiseptics, clots the blood and it might make you feel a whole lot better - I do hope so anyway.

watch a good movie to take your mind off it.

Only thing I can suggest is to keep it raised - to prevent so much blood flow and therefore make it throb less.

That's what we were taught in first aid - to prevent heavy bleeding - so worth a try.

Pickly- that is exactly what it was like!!! I had such a horrid day yesterday. The plaster is still on but I am dreading washing my hair tomorrow- it is gonna fall off, and I will have to LOOK AT the damage. Ak. I am not squeamish looking at other people's injuries, only my own!!!x

Pickle- I didn't mention it as I wanted to stick to the point, but last night I had another BIG flood in the vault. It really pelted down for about 15 mins, which was enough time for the water to come up and drown me.

THEN I cut my finger, a few hours later, having not eaten all day. BAH!!

Pickle- I wish you would. I am in severe need of being looked after. I sure as hell can't look after myself!!!

You poor thing Scarlett! I hope the thumb is better today, if you cut the pulp (is that what is it called? My dictionary says so..) it really hurts, I know I've done that so many times and I once cut when I, like you, hadn't eaten all day. Yikes I thought I was going to faint.

If you don't want to look at it, how about putting it in some soapy water when you need to clean it?

BTW an Italian man once taught me that you should never cut lettuce but rip it, someting to do with the fibres in it and it tastes better if you rip it, trust me - and you won't hurt your thumb while cutting lettuce anymore!
