Ginger Beard-Gene for red hair ?

Hello


My husband has brown hair when he grows stuble the colour is a mixture of brown,blond and ginger. Does this mean he holds the gene for red hair ?

Yes I would think so
my husband has same when he gets stubble we have three children two dark on blond, no red.
Thats not to say it won't skip a generation and you get a ginger grand child.
I have found ginger stubble on every man I have ever looked closely at. Even ones with no history of red hair in their extended family still have some ginger hairs. Maybe facial hair is different to head hair...

thanks for the above..the reason I ask is I am also a red head and wanted to work out the likely hood our our child having red hair too as I have read both parents would need to carry the gene for red hair in order for this to happen.
both parents may well haev to carryt eh gene, but they may not show any signs of red hair. My mother in law has jet black hair, not a hint of red about it, and my father in law has brownish hair, even tho his sisters are both ginger. My partner has jet black hair, just like his mum, but my brother in law is ginger. So, it doesn't look like my m in law carries the ginger gene, but it must be hiding away there somewhere. I should just point out that there are no ginger grandchildren in the family at all.....yet!
