Is this normal?

Every now and then I doze off for about half an hour in the evening after work which I have just done now. Every time I wake up feeling groggy and a bit headachy.

Does this happen to anyone else and anyone know the reason why?

Yep...I always feel dozey after. Especially this time of the year.
Yes. Have to have a cup of tea then I feel fine.
I try and avoid naps for that very reason. I always feel groggy after a nap.
Yes and I find it very hard to wake up properly after. I often feel queasy after nap, headache and slightly sick.
A square of chcolate does it for me (after a nap).
A very common feeling and it even has a name 'sleep inertia'.
I agree, 237, I usually have a coke though. Just something sweet.
I rarely nap in the daytime now but when I was working I often did and like others who have replied I woke up craving something sweet. Thought it was just me. Ah - the joys of AB . :-)

Thanks Mamy, will look sleep inertia.
The evidence is usually there when I wake up feeling groggy

I'm feeling nauseous at the minute and don't think I can eat anything.
Awe bless you Tigger sorry for making light, I do hope you're ok Xx
Question Author
Lol Arky, I'll be fine in a bit :o) xx
Tiggs - that's why it's best to go for something sweet. It's easier to stomach even if you don't have a sweet tooth.

I tend to have things like Creme Caramel in the fridge. Something you can eat a spoon at a time.

My sleeping is awful at the moment so I feel groggy quite a lot.
You will always feel groggy after 30 mins sleep because a sleep cycle is about 90 mins and you are interrupting that cycle.

I'll make some sweet tea and see if that helps.

I usually sleep fine and get around 6 hours a night. I'm up between 6.30 and 7 for work, school run and so on.
The headache may be down to mild dehydration - make sure you are drinking enough water during the day.

As for grogginess, it doesn't matter how much sleep I get, I feel groggy when i wake up - takes me about ten minutes to come round, usually with a cup of tea.

Last night I slept for seven hours, woke in agony with what may be a twisted knee, and went back to bed for another seven hours through the day and still felt groggy on waking.

As always, ten minutes and a cuppa and I was fine.
"woke in agony with what may be a twisted knee"

Wot have u been doin Mr Hughes?!

AB criticism must have u thrashin abt in yer sleep :-(
Question Author
Sorry to hear about your twisted knee Andy, ouch!
Thank you. I can only think I have done something that didn't hurt at the time, and developed over time.

It was twingeing when I went to bed, and agony when I woke up.

The rest seems to have done it good, almost no pain now.

As for the criticism, I just cry myself to sleep every night .....

Yeah, right!!!!
