Can anyone help. I am suffering from bad acne on my face, back and chest. Being a woman especially its horrible to have spots constantly on your chest. Its really getting me down. My self esteem is very low. I have just started using Minocin precribed by my GP/Dermatologist, i know it will be a long road ahead before i see any effects. Ive tried Dianette which had no effect and the same with Freederm cream. when ever i went on holiday my skin was brilliant, my spots cleared up completely. Anyone got any ideas?

I am so sorry you are suffering with this. There is a treatment called Roaccutane which my son (and two other young adults I know) used and their acne cleared up completely. My son's treatment took about three weeks to start working, and his skin went a bit red for a while. He needed two courses (12 weeks) but the final results were very good. I do hope your treatment works for you.

Sounds like you need another holiday Jo !! Joking apart, if the problem clears up when you're on holiday, you could think about why that happens and then try to create those same conditions here. Are you going somewhere very sunny or very warm or totally chilled out ?

Are you getting stressed out at work ? You've done really well to have started the ball rolling on the medic side, but have you talked to your GP about how down you're feeling as well ?

Chin up kiddo. Let us know how you get on.

i have had problems with my skin too but not as bad as you- so sorry for you. recently i have satrted using forever living products. these are made from completely natural products, mainly aloe vera which is known as really good for your skin. forever's products are special because they are more concetrated than other aloe vera products which contain more water. at the moment i am using the bee propalis which is amazing. the aloe vera company is the uk's distributor of forever living products, more info here: http://www.aloevera.co.uk/webdoc1.htm

there is lots of info on the site its worth a read through. have a look at all the categories they all offer great products. give the drinking gels a thought (although it sounds a bit odd and apparently doesnt taste so good), i have just ordered some, lots of friends have used it and say it is really good for your skin and overall health.

good luck!

here's another site selling the same stuff but i think it is a little easier to use and possibly offers more:

A friend of mine tried chinese herbal pills/teas from a specialist chinese herbal shop, which treat all sorts of problmes from acne to hair loss. Anyway it worked for her, completely cleared up her acne, but did cost a fair amount - about 50 with every consultation plus the medicine.

Just another alternative for you if your interested.

Acne can also be related to your diet so maybe when you were away you were eating different foods, have a read of This and especially the section on Zinc which many people relate to Acne.

try applying some maluka honey directly to the affected areas as it has a natural antiseptic properites, leave on for a couple of hours or so then wash off with warm water, then apply a moisturiser (not sure which one tho, just to stop the skin drying out). do this every evening and u should notice a difference, i'm told its quite effective, but different things work on different bodies. :o/ good luck tho
u might also want to try some kind of light therapy as it sounds as if ure skin might respond to the sunshine, but don't use a tanning lamp, need the special blue and red light ones
