Stupid question I know, but how do you about getting your hospital records?
My son who was attacked and left for dead- well I have got him a solicitor on a no win no fee basis and he has all the photos so far, but need his hospital records. I’ve never ever done this so how do I (or my son) do this? X
Accessing medical records. A request for information from health records has to be made with the organisation that holds the health records – the data controller. For example, the GP, optician or dentist. For hospital health records, the individual should contact the records manager or patient services manager at the relevant hospital trust.

Ah thanks everyone - have been ill all weekend and still feel rough but just got this solicitor. Right so I will prob need to instruct son to do it then
smow your son would have been given a discharge letter which would have hospital details on.
Your GP would also have been sent hospital notes electronically.
I am sure you visited son in hospital you can google name and town to get details.
As has been said earlier the solicitor or his secretary should being doing the leg work IMO he is just trying to save some money by asking you to do it.
I'm all for Smow's son getting the records himself. It's an easy process, just fill in the form I've linked to, and he will know that it's being dealt with.
If it saves money, that can only be a good thing.
It's not complicated and there is no legal expertise required.
