That you got paid to do?

I always thought my hobby would be something I pay for (subs, props, costume etc) but just this last week it has started to pay me to do it.

Early days yet but my proper job is only 5hours 50 minutes a week term time so it won't take a huge amount to allow me to give it a miss.

I used to knit toys to order and got paid, but in truth there was not really much profit considering time spent.

But I loved it.
My hobby is reading, would love to be paid for all the novels I read!!
Drawing ... once upon a time.

Dinner lady?
Question Author
Sharon you could be a proof reader for a publishing company.

I am a lunch time leader (not the same as a dinner lady lol) at the moment.

But would my hobby become a chore if I had to make sure it paid? That's the quandary.

Yes....I took a massage course because I like to learn one new thing a year......massaged a few friends just for ....well just for really...bit of a hobby I guess....

Word got around and soon I had a business earning quite a bit of dosh....and it was so good in many ways..........xx
no, I have had a couple of requests (I do all kinds of craft stuff) but I like to keep it as a hobby and be able to not do it when I want to do something else.
Wooo Gness, massage eh?!
Yes, Sharon....massage....pure and innocent massage......though there was the detective who had the bad back...... ;-)
Lol!!!! That's another story.
After we move house and I sell all the boys' Lego (that they're not interested in but I love) I'm going to look into selling Lego.
Didn't turn into another story, Sharon.... :-(

Guy was a dish...wanted someone who could do a really deep tissue back massage.....I worked hard to impress him...him being such a dish.....

I impressed him........he complimented me......

You're fantastic, Gness......he gasped when I'd finished the massage.......I held my breath......!

I bet you don't have any bother getting the lid off a pickle jar........he said.....

:-(
Wow you must have strong fingers. I love having my back massaged.
So what's you're hobby cassa?

I Upcycle furniture and sell a few bits but by the time I buy the piece, paint and wax ect I only make a small profit but if you factored in my time there would be no profit but as I enjoy doing it I don't mind.

Sometimes people ask me to do commissions but I'm not keen on that, prefer to do my own ideas in my own time otherwise I think it would be a chore.

Silliemille my friend does that as well. Well she's just started but has upcycled a wardrobe as a child's dress up wardrobe.

My hobby is am dram. I've been doing it for about five years and I find it tremendous fun. Stressful for learning lines as I have the *** memory going lol

I was up late (insomnia) one night and for a laugh signed up for an acting job finder. Since March I have been in 3 short films (student films) one music video for a rock band and have just got a job (possibly ongoing) in a docudrama series for sky picks.

It's not my career and I'm not going for fame and fortune. I just enjoy doing it and you meet some really interesting people.

I earn less than £2,000. a year as a lunch time leader but even if I broke even for the extra work I'd be happy giving school up.

Although I am in the lucky position of not needing to earn money to live on I would still like to break even on what I get now as my independance money.
I chose a career based on hobby/interest. Way to spoil a hobby !
Oh Cassa that sounds fun! If you don't actually need the money then go for it, if it starts to become a chore you can give it up or do less.

That's the position I'm in. I get a Company pension which I can live on, the upcycling gives me a little bit extra but I can do it as and when I'm able around other family stuff.

Really hope it works out for you.
Getting paid to do your hobby is awesome, the dream almost! I play online poker and it's safe to say sometimes I pay for that but occasionally it will pay me too, and it's all fun!

Looking for another hobby too, maybe outdoors?
