My husband has been put on anti-depressants. He's very depressed because of his work overload and office politics. Are there any lifestyle changes I can make to help him?

"He should ask his GP first, because specific advice will depend on which drugs he has been prescribed. However, there are general lifestyle changes that would benefit anyone suffering from depression. Exercise is especially useful. Can he join a gym or take a dog for a long walk each evening? A brisk walk just three times a week would make a difference. He can also make dietary changes - cutting out caffeine and junk foods is a good idea because they keep the body in a stressful state. Depression often affects the appetite, so taking a good multivitamin supplement and a B-vitamin complex supplement will help ensure hes getting all the nutrients he needs."
