Why are women such wimps now? Immediately after Joey Barton made his comment some women in the audience who was asked to respond to another question said how offended she was!
My generation fought for women's rights in the 1960's. The right to education, equality in the workplace, for our place in the world and we have achieved it for many women.
I look around now, and it seems now to involve copying the worst male attributes! Ie getting leg less on a Saturday night, swearing like a trooper, getting pregnant to get your own house, or even worse, getting so drunk not even knowing you're getting pregnant. Now we have whining women who complain at the least little slur! I am not talking about serious abuse here, and one of the good things about women having a voice is that they now feel empowered enough to speak out.
But really! Joey Barton is a 'bloke', not typical, he has a violent past and very outdated views (he is also a footballer). So come on ladies toughen up!

I found what he said nothing more than amusing and in truth how many men and women feel when picking someone from a bar.
Are you married, Carole?(I think I'm falling in love, ;-))
I must admit to also being dismayed at how sensitive some women and girls are. It takes something really serious to offend me, not just some knuckle dragging neanderthal who thinks I ought to feel blessed if he pinches my bum. That remark Joey Barton made was pretty much a (poor) joke, and ought to have been taken as one, we give away far too much of our power as women by being affronted at nothing, we ought to be better and stronger than that.
looks like joey is looking to get a job on telly ......
Everyone is different. One can usefully categorise groups but need to know that not everyone in the group are the same.

I think one could comment more if one knew what this awful unforgivable slur was.
I only saw a little of the programme but if it's about the choosing from the four women comment, I agree......
When we make cracks like that it's mildly amusing and no-one bats an eyelid....when a chap does....god help him.
Do you think there'll come a time when men are wary of bantering with us?
If I recall correctly OG Joey Barton explained picking UKIP over the other three was like picking the least ugly of 4 ugly women in a bar.

I didn't find it offensive.
oh well, no worries, ;-)
I find that quite funny! not offensive to me at all
What a great post carolegif. I didn't see question time, but absolutely agree with you. Having now seen what Barton did say, I don't find it remotely offensive.
Agree with gness too. I feel sorry for today's males and quite often quite embarrassed and even ashamed by today's females.
Speaking of feisty ladies- good to see you back Lottie! x

(apologies carolegif)
good morning lottie :)
Hi BOO x Feisty - me?? Never!! ;o)
No offence taken then, I wonder if there would had been if Joey Barton had been a UKIP member?

Footballer Joey Barton has apologised after describing UKIP as the best of "four really ugly girls".

I'd sooner wait for a really hot girl to come along ;-)
