I have recently got another set of expensive American (valplast)dentures and having soaked them (with the others) overnight in water with a steradent tablet only to discover that (not every time) the denture edges appear to have a horrible greenish tinge to them and all I can do is to spend about 10 mins scrubbing them with neat toothpaste to get them anywhere near white again.I'm guessing some kind of chemical reaction is taking place? Anybody got any ideas ? grateful for any tips.

The FAQs section on the Valplast website advises against using any form of cleaner other than their own product, Val-Clean, as (quote) "Any other brand of denture cleaner is not recommended for cleaning a Valplast® appliance, as they are not as effective as Val-Clean® and may contain ingredients that could damage the Valplast® or its color."

Both are available from www.valclean.com and when compared to what's on the shelf, prove very affordable.
