I went to the gym for about 8 months, strictly for lifting weights and gaining a bit of muscle. I did bulk up a bit and did intend on carrying on but due to financial issues I had to pack it in.

Basically I want to know if I bought free weights and used them at home does it cover all the muscles to work out including all different parts of shoulder and different parts of back etc?

I don't want to lose what I've built up.

Thanks

I wouldn't use a barbell if not in a gym with other people around. I once had a nasty accident attempting barbell bench presses by myself.
Yes you should be able to do a full work out at home. You don't even necessarily need to use weights you can use your body weight to build muscle. A couple of years ago I did the Insanity workout & over about 2/3 months I stripped loads of fat and gained lots of muscle definition without lifting a weight. It's a tough workout - you need to be pretty fit to start with but the results are amazing. It's fairly pricey (£105 Amazon for a set of about 13 dvds) but way cheaper than the gym. Or if you do want to use weights get a kettlebell - you can buy exercise dvds or scour the net for workouts. I hadn't done a kettlebell workout for months and I did 10 mins yesterday and am suffering for it today - oh well no pain no gain!
I'm working out at home too. The only machine I miss is the lat press. But there are so many exercises which can be done with free weights for back and shoulders (http://homegym-exercises.com). I've lost no weight on the shoulders and back. You just have to exercise regularly at home.

I do a regular home workout'
As an ex RM I've a pretty good idea how to use weights effectively
But I never use Barbells or any Heavy Stuff if there's no-one else at home' just in case!
