Do they ever consider shift workers or people who work in an industry where the weekend is the peak time!
Every radio station this morning was excitedly reporting that it is Friday, the weekend is here, 2 days off are approaching, what are your plans for this weekend.... etc etc..... Well not for me I am afraid!!

I understand what you mean.

Where I live, the busiest time is the weekends, and thousands of people work in pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, etc.

They are probably thinking ... Oh my god, another manic weekend approaching ... and they can't wait until Monday morning when the mayhem is over for a few days.
You have plans for the weekend. You plan to work.

I think if you opt for shift working you have to take this sort of thing in your stride. Probably best not to listen to DJs at all.
The thing is ...

The only reason that Monday to Friday people can make social plans at the weekend is thanks to those people who work at weekends.

What if all the pubs and restaurants and shops were closed at the weekends? How much fun would DJs have at the weekend if all they could do was sit at home or go for a quiet walk?

I am in this position (weekend cover) because of promotion, so the big picture is positive really, I dont mind.. It is the assumption that everyone looks forward to the weekend that annoys me. It really only applies to office workers
or people who work during the week.... or people who are rota'd off
They ( DJ's ) think that everyone is a Nine to Five Monday to Friday person imo.
Question Author
Yes, point taken not JUST office workers. But the type of business that only open "office hours" and workers who's roster has awarded them a weekend off
I agree. It`s the same when you get up at the crack of sparrows to go to work on a Sunday and the DJ is saying "I expect you`re all in bed this sunday morning".
Question Author
That is true they come on early on a Sunday with music to help you "forget the hangover".....
I agree and sometimes talk or should I say shout at the radio when they say, great the weekend is here and time to relax, or the like
Question Author
In my case it tends to be "Tuesday is here, no work tomorrow so have a few beers in the house and sleep in until 10am Wednesday!!"
considering dj's work shifts and are not in 9-5 jobs i doubt they assume the rest of the world are..... they are playing to the majority. listen to a 2am show, its different.

i have no idea why you are annoyed about it
Don't ya just love it when on the odd occasion they play an half decent record and then talk over it or cut it short to tell us some inane crap or play some ads.
Question Author
I dont have the stats to disprove that they are playing to the majority. Relatively speaking, it doesnt actually annoy me. Was more of an observation from listening to 4 seperate radio stations this morning in the car, an enthusiastic "ITS FRIDAY" message on all stations
Fluffy, DJ's usually do the same hours every week though, such has 10am - 2pm or whatever there slot is.
jd_1984 I feel the same about weather men/women who come on your radio or TV. all happy happy joy joy about sunshine and temperatures getting above 20 odd degrees. I am not a sun worshipper; in fact I stay indoors whenever there is a 'heatwave' that they assume everybody is going to enjoy.
Personally I love nothing better than a good thunderstorm but do they ever get excited about the rain? No they do not!
Actually, I like it when they come on the radio at drive time on a wet, dark, miserable Monday morning and they`re going on about another week`s work on this gloomy Monday and I`m thinking "Not for me, I`m on my way home to bed and I`m off for 3 days now so Up Yours" LOL
Question Author
Yes they do it too. Emphasising good weather at the weekend and bank holidays and telling everybody to enjoy it.
which is a shift and not a 9-5 job

and i hate everyone :-) especially people who start the day saying Happy.... whatever the **&%*)) day it is
Happy Friday, Fluffster :-)
