Smug barstards............

It certainly is! 20 years next year and if I and my wife were still smoking it would cost us £11860 a year. Unbelievable.

Best part of 30 non-smoking years between us,
one of the best things we've done!

(not preaching, just saying)

Well done me!
Well done to any non smokers on here :-)
One thing I don't miss is having to go and find a tobacconist's on a Sunday or bank holiday open. I could drive for miles.... that added to the bill!! Best thing I did health wise too.
Sandy, I stopped smoking 14 months ago after smoking 20 a day for sixty years.
I still can't believed it because I tried so many times before. It's a bit late for me health wise
as I already have COPD caused by smoking .At least I am not letting it get worse.
Where I am really feeling the benefit if financial. I was spending almost £50 a week which is quite substantial coming from a pension.
I would say to any smoker you CAN stop. If I can do it anyone can.

True, it's not a cheap vice anymore. 20 cigarettes cost over £8 now. £56 a week would make a big hole in anyone's finances.
you can get them cheaper....

but as im fast approaching 7 months ciggie free i'm not bothered what they cost anymore
Coming up to 13 years and 5 months since I gave them up - should have done it 20 years before that.
18 months fag free for me too
19 months and counting for me :0)
Smug barstards............
Nearly 40 years for me. Non smoker I'm really proud of is my sister, who after spending nearly fifty years smoking like a chimney announced on the birth of her great grand daughter four years ago that "nobody is smoking any where near that baby and that incudes me" and literally stopped overnight.
Ha Ha
Its great feeling smug though.
Not smoked for 25 years. Mind you, it was the 35 years of smoking before I stopped that has bu99ered my health.
30 plus years for both myself and Mr YS.
Not smug just pleased we did it then for financial, health and social reasons.
I bet you're all virulent anti-smokers as well............
In 4 days time it will be one year since my last cigarette. I gave up for 'Stoptober' last year :)
Thanks sandyroe.

I even did it cold turkey too, some 21 years ago.

And yes craft, I am. My son even more so, having seen his Nan and Grandad die of lung cancer within 5 years of each other.
Me? I'd make smoking whilst pregnant an offence!
