Weird one here.

My neighbours have now been away for three weeks. I'm getting a little concerned about them.

Usually when they go away they ask me to keep an eye out on their house. They didn't do that this time. However, the house has all the curtains drawn and small windows open and it's clear they were going away. Also one of their cars is gone and the other is still here which also points to just a holiday.

In all the years I've known them, they have never been away for more than a week. They have no family at all and no-one I can contact just to see if they are ok.

Also, in the past they have rung me just to check if their house is okay (I haven't saved any mobile numbers for them and now I wish I had).

I'm not sure what my question is here, but I'm getting a bit concerned.

Do any other neighbours know anything?
if they get newspapers or milk delivered and it has stopped, contact the newsagent or the milkman to check all is ok and when they have cancelled til.
or, scan the newspages online for their names..........

Are any of the other neighbours likely to know? Do you know their e maii address ? Do you know where any of their family live. You've probably already considered these. It does seem odd if the curtains are closed permanently
or have th done a moonlight? do they have pets?

Nope 888. They don't chat with any other neighbours. It's baffling that they are gone for this length of time.
If you are seriously concerned, i would be having a chat with the local police.

They have nothing delivered..................

No way to tell if they intended to be back.

I'm sure someone else would have missed them, but I honestly don't know who?
I've checked both names on google with no results. They'll probably turn up tomorrow not realising that I have been concerned.
is it really 3 weeks since you noticed they were not there? it might not be, why would you have noticed they weren't there earlier? perhaps it's only 2 and they'll be back tonight
Maybe they came into some money and have gone on a big holiday and don't want any one to know?
yep, Woofgang's seems to be a good idea. A rather not so silly idea would be "Have you looked (and smelt!) through the letterbox?"
Question Author
I've considered that woofgang, but really don't know if I should be concerned or not. Don't want to make a huge fuss if they are just on their hols and forgot to tell me!
Do they work? Could you contact one of their employers just for clarification (although you might look a bit stalkerish - no offence).
What age are they, do they work? Their employer may know something. I agree with Woofgang if you are really worried I'd talk to the local police.
Question Author
Of course I've smelt through their letterbox.........no flies, no smell!
DJHawkes................I didn't notice on day one that they were gone, but very quickly afterwards I did. I see them daily, outside their house having a ciggie.
It's not unusual that they are away, just how long it's been and they usually tell me.

Yorky lass. It's a father and daughter. He's retired and she is in her 30's. She has had some mental health issues after a crash.
voulezvous ok if anything bad has happened to them ie accident the Police have ways of finding out where they live and you would have known by now. What are the alternatives? abduction? if they had been abducted in a foreign land their abductors would have contacted someone by now. They went on holiday and chose, this time, not to tell you. I think you need to take a deep breath and just leave it, it seems to be causing you undue stress and really its not your problem or business. :-)
I think that's a little harsh. Voulezvous is only showing concern for her neighbours. I would hope my neighbours would do the same for me.
Question Author
Noted themorrigan!
None of my business. But, yikes! I wasn't thinking abduction!
I was thinking accident, or some such thing.
As I said before, they'll probably turn up home soon, none the wiser to my concern.
If I went missing I would be happy if a neighbour worried about me.
