I was a size 10 for years. Then, in my mid 30's i went up to an 11. Just been and bought some trainers and guess what, all the 11's are too small and had to go for a 12 !!!!

Or maybe the shoes are getting smaller !!!!!

Well I agree that shoe sizes vary but I think your feet spread as you get older...mine have :(
Your question interested me so I had a look on the internet and found this information
Actually, all people should remember that your feet size increases with increase in weight (meaning that shoes that fit when you are 20 won’t fit when you are 40). One final fact is that with age feet change in shape… they will flatten out and elongate. It’s estimated that many people over the age of 40 can gain half a shoe size every 10 years. So, have your feet measured often and don’t get hung-up on the size on the shoe box but the actual fit of the shoe.” When do feet stop growing is a question shoe experts hear frequently

No.

There is a maximum length when all the bones have become ossified and from then on, there is no further growth and as Robinia states, they tend to spread out and even get smaller.

I have forgotten when that is, but i am sure somebody will tell you.
I have to be different then! I have always worn a size 5 from being about 14. I now only take a size 4!
Here is a website that you can look at for yourself
- the average person's shoe size grows 2 full sizes from between 20 and 70 years old. This is part of the natural flattening of the arches.

I don't think you can rely on the size printed on the shoe these days. Its a case of trial and error until you find the size you want. My feet seem to have got shorter and fatter over the years, but my weight is roughly the same.
I was always a 5 now I'm a size 5.5 and even got some sandals size 6. I blame the shoe sizes changing though, so many are made in china and they tend to make things smaller, a fact told to me by an importer of clothes and shoes. Funnily enough if I buy italian shoes I'm still a size 5.
\\\\Now some people widen more than lengthen, and others lengthen more than widen, and others like Gerry do both.\\\

Our Dr Blake of San Francisco has certainly backed his horse both ways....3 ways in fact.....
If your hands have grew as well you should mention it to a good Doctor.
Have you noticed this phenomenon on any other body parts?
I don't know about feet but my waist has been growing for years.
What with my tummy growing, waist expanded and things like bingo wings there are now around 3 stone extra that my husband is not legally married to.
From about age 15 I was a size 5, slowly went up to 6-6 and half. When I lost weight I seemed to go back down to a 5-6. Ive put on weight plus now a lot older. I bought some about 2 years ago size 6, went back to get the same ones last Saturday and had to have a 7!! I know it can depend on where and what styles you buy as they do vary, but I tend to stick to the same ones most of the time ,especialy for work.
