I'm bang out of Waspeze; I can't find the antihistamine cream and I've used the last piriton.

I have been eaten alive by mozzies - any home remedies I can use to stop the maddening itch until I can get to a chemist tomorrow?

E45 cream?
I recommend the liberal internal application of at least 2no. bottles of Pinot........it doesn't stop the itching but removes your capacity to care about it! :o)
Question Author
Haven't got any E45 cream Alice.

Lol Jack.
cAN you go to tesco or something?
Question Author
lol, no Bednobs, because I am nearly halfway through Jack's suggested remedy so I can't drive and its tipping it down so I'm not walking.
Might be worth trying lemon juice or vinegar
Make a paste of bicarb & water and smooth it on. It will dry out a fall off but it does give temporary relief for a while. Or just rub with ice cubes.
oops Daffy beat me to it :)
My bro-in- Law lived in South Africa for a lot of years they used Vick SIL always had some in her bag. Didn't use it if the skin was scratched though. I always use toothpaste doesn't look good during the day if you're going out but OK at bedtime.

Right, vinegar on one, but that's still a bit itchy. Bicarb on some of the others, and with the exception of a particularly nasty one, that appears to have worked.

Ta!!!!
Have not tried all these myself but have been told that applying a hot spoon (heated under the hot tap) to the bite will stop the itching. Also try covering the bites to keep the air off them, that helps. I was badly bitten ln Greece once and was given a bottle of vinegar with chopped raw garlic in it and told to dab it on the bites. It eased the itching but nobdy would sit near me at breakfast!
tcp or savlon?
Vinegar for wasp stings Bicarb for bees (make sure you've get the Sting out)
Have you lavender oil? It will help the itch.

I make up the "potion" for my husband who gets eaten alive at this time of year In a small spray bottle, pour in some Rosewater, add a few drops of tea tree oil (will also help with the itch) some lavender oil and some citronella oil, and a teaspoon of vodka shake and spray as required.
If you can get your hands on some Tea Tree body wash and use it daily in your shower it'll also help to keep the little blighters away
Question Author
I tried Savlon earlier, Cupid, but it just didn't give any relief at all.

I'm going to put the new bug blitzer on in a moso we can keep the door open. It fries them.

nun - that sounds good, but I've got no ingredients. THankfully, they are not as nasty as bee or wasp stings, just sodding itchy. It is the only downside to living a few feet from an enormous lake.
A dab of surgical spirit works wonders, stings a bit though.
Cheap perfume applied to bites helps but if the skin is broken from scratching stings a bit. No pain no gain as the saying goes.
Barmaid does not have cheap perfume!
Neat alcohol also works I understand - just dab it on the bites (neat vodka might be best if you have some)
