Does anyone know if there are any diseases transferable by an insect bite, that could lay dormant for 10 years before becoming active and causing ilness please? Thanks. In particular, I am thinking of tropical insects.

The only one I know of is malaria.  If anti-malarial drugs have been taken then the symptoms of an initial infection may be suppressed.  Of the four types of malaria, three of them (Plasmodium vivax, ovale, or malariae) can remain dormant in the liver and can cause a recurrence of the disease months or even years later.
