My eye is really scritchy in the corner (the bit nearest my nose). I have tried optrex but the plastic thing doesn't really cover the scritchy bit. Any ideas (it's been like this for four or five days. Thanks. (Ps - I realise that scritchy isn't a real word (mixture of itchy and scratchy) it's just that's how it feels.)

Optrex Itchy Eye Drops from the chemist or supermarket. They work for me when I get the same thing, sherrardk.
Sherr, that sounds like allergies to me; the season has begun. You could use an allergy eye drop or pills or both for some relief. Ask your chemist for something. I too am beginning to feel like I'm coming on with something - sneezing and eyes a tad itchy occasionally. Hope you get some relief soon.
One of my eyes is like that. And the skin by the eye/nose looks bruised all the time as it is very dark. The doctor did say I have blephartis in that eye. so not sure if it is to do with that. x
Ive had it for years, there appears to be a slight irregularity in the skin in that corner as well, just on the one eye, I was given Betnovate cream for it, that clears it up in a few day.
Mine have felt like that today and others in the office a mixture of sniffly, sneezy etc.... I think the hayfever season has hit as Society has said.

You should be able to get an eye bath from the chemist, mine cost about 50p, I can put my eyedrops in it then hold it over my eye so it just run out of my eye.
Hi Sherrardk. If its a tingly itch it could be hay fever. You need a good antihistamine. Have you tried benadryl? See your doctor and get a months supply.
you can get a thing called 'dry eye' that can be irritated by spending a long time staring at computer screens.
Hi Sher. I get an allergy - some sort of hay fever (possibly tree pollen) - but no snots and sneezes. It was years before I got something that stops the itching (and sometimes it's REALLY bad; sometimes it's in my eyes and then like somebody wth a feather all down the outside of my nose). If you find that over the counter stuff doesn't work, ask your GP if you can try Fexofenadine. My own GP takes this and he prescribed it for me and it's marvellous!

Hello everyone, don't think it's hay fever (though I do get it). It's really odd as its just one eye, think I might have something stuck right in the corner. Feel like I could sort it out if I had a really good cry.
Sher, believe it or not my allergy started just in the one eye. I'm not suggesting it definitely is allergy but don't rule it out because it's not in both your eyes. I hope you get it sorted 'cos scritchy eyes are not much fun:-(
Do you have an eye cup? You could use that with water to wash the eye. Otherwise just use eye drops a couple times per day.
Perhaps you ought to see your doctor or practice nurse. Better make an appointment quick because there's a bank holiday weekend coming up. Your eyes are precious. Look after yourself.xx
The most effective scritchy eye remedy is applying cold compresses. For this purpose, you can use a soft cloth and cool water. First of all, lie down comfortably with your back, dip the cloth in cold water and place it over the affected eyes. As soon as the cloth warms up, dip it again in cold water and place over the eyes. Repeating the procedure for 3-4 times a day will help in getting relief for scritchy eyes....You can also use some good products or creams like eyelastin...It will help you lot!!!!
