It is just a week since I had a new knee, the muscle in my calf is very tight and painfull can anyone give me some advice on how to soften it. thanks.

Are you allowed to exercise? If you are put a scarf or something similar round foot and sit on floor, chair, bed etc and pull toes towards you with scarf to stretch calf a little.
did you get exercises from the physio? carry on doing them as prescribed. It will get better in time, but it takes time
mmmm! before doing anything to it, I would just let the doctor have a look....
