I have managed to get my blood sugar down from 21 to 14 and medics are no longer worried about it. 14 is high but nowhere near as bad as 21 I have had no sugar since 8pm last night been eating home made soup porridge and brown bread and taking metformin

You've done OK gordie, keep it up, always someone here if needed!
good to read, stick to eating the healthy stuff, you will feel much much better x
Gordie1, have you looked at the diabetes.org website?
www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/MyLife
Loads of people on here gave you sound advice on the other threads. If you want to have fingers and toes and worse, amputated, and go BLIND so you can't see your reflection then carry on with your regime of denial and 5 bars of choccy.
BTW metformin had a bad effect on me so my Doc changed me to Competact which is 15mg pioglitazone/850mg metformin hydrochloride.
2 a day. The anti-social bit went away. I also inject insulin 4 times a day. If you need any more find me at ymail.com
That's good gordie, keep it up.
Good...and drink lots of water !
well done gordie, keep it up.
Pleased to hear you are getting it under control, keep it up even though you may be tempted, try and resist!
Are you a type 1 or type 2 gordie?
If you are a type 1 diabetic gordie, you can use a correction does of fast acting insulin to bring your levels down a bit - I know my daughter takes one unit of novorapid to bring her down - if she had a level of 14 she'd inject 1 unit of insulin to bring her to 12 and so on. But she's been diabetic since she was a toddler so we've over 20 years experience but only with type 1.

Just got it checked a tad dissapinted it is down to 13 but I have eaten brown bread porridge taken 3 metformin a day no chocolate biscuits or any bad things at all and it has hardly come down it is really worrying me
Do you use milk in your porridge?
Question Author
yes skimmed milk
that could be a bit of the problem. I drink milk when my sugars are too low and it raises me up. But it could depend on how much milk you are having. I don't know much about type 2 but it was just a wee thought. Have you been feeling ok sometimes high readings indicate that you are coming down with something
