1) Is it nature's way of telling us to keep our population under control?
2) Nature or nurture ?

erm, but I wouldn't go across species, lcg76
Oh god - not fruit again - I already got my knuckles rapped today by Miss Prim for saying Melons ...
Nature isn't something that has intent so it's not any way of telling us anything. It is a merely a flaw in the subconscious that forces an individual to be attracted to the wrong gender.

I don't believe anyone knows for sure the exact cause, but my suspicion would be a mixture of both. A propensity down to a genetic cause, which can become active due to environment/personal experiences.

Keep 'em coming.
1. No
2. Basically nature, but I go along with Old Geezer in his second paragraph.

Fortunately, these days, nature is allowed to take it's course and people can be open about it - thank goodness.

Too tired to discuss.
a) I cannot think of a better way of controlling the population...can you ?

b) all the homosexuals will say "nature" and all the heterosexuals will say "nuture."
In this situation I'm not sure neutering is necessary Sqad.
Eccles..LOL
Unnatural imo.
tony....I agree.

If homosexuality was "natural" to a species, how would it be an advantage to that species?

It would not be able to reproduce and hence in a generation it would be extinct. As the human race hasn't become extinct as yet, then it would seem to me that homosexuality was man made (nutured)
I would call it normal (in that it is fairly common) rather than natural. I think it`s nature rather than nurture though in men. I`m not so sure about women. Someone once told me "Gay men are born but gay women are made".
no
nature

why does somethign natural have to be advantageous to the species, why can;t it just be for pleasure

what advantage does a clitorus have other than pleasure?
\\\\why does somethign natural have to be advantageous to the species, why can;t it just be for pleasure \\\

Cus if it isn't, the species dies out......not much pleasure there then.

The clitoris is a advantageous to the species as it induces orgasm and reproduction.
Well fluffy, It's a bit like hunt the parcel lol.
not everything has to be advantageous to the species in terms of reproduction, as a species we have evolved somethings can just be for pleasure
1. Not really - as more same sex couples are having children by artificial insemination.

2. Nature - you cannot help the way you were made.

I must be in the 20% of women who never fantasize about other women - messing about with somebody's else's lady garden has no attraction for me.
1) no, I think its in our human nature to assign a reason for everything, some things just are.

2) Nature....thats how it is, the world is a diverse place.
Sqad:

"b) all the homosexuals will say "nature" and all the heterosexuals will say "nuture."

I said nature, as have others. So all who said nature are homosexual! Interesting.
since it is usually heterosexuals who have nurtured the homosexual, I wouldn't think it would advantage them to say "nurture"......
nature definitely.
lofty
