raised alk phos....

I got some blood results back today and they said that my alk phos levels were raised. I had a quick google and noticed that this has to do with liver function. My last round of blood work they said that my liver function was abnormal but then said it was fine with a follow up blood test.

This is beginning to worry me now, especially because they don't want me to go back until October to get more blood tests =s

So yeah, my question.... Has anyone else had similar results? Just want to know what is going on.

I recently had some bloods done and mine came back with something similar but it was put down to the fact that I was ill with a chest infection at the time the bloods were taken so I've to go back for another test at the end of this month. So have you had any "bugs" recently which might explain the change to your liver function?
I think that if it was anything serious they'd have you back before October.

I've got a bit of a tummy bug just now but I had my blood taken last Wednesday. I'm always catching things from the kids at work so maybe I did have a touch of something.

I know i'm being really over dramatic but my uncle passed away a few months ago from cancer of the bile duct. The results I got could be caused by a blockage of the bile duct. I'm such a hypochondriac!! Just ignore me lol!!
Listen Erin, I live with the Queen of Hypochondria (my daughter!) you were concerned about something, you sought reassurance, hopefully you found some. Try not to worry

I need to know what drug medication that you are taking and what underlying medical conditions are being treated.

Also what is the level of Alk Phophatase and for what reason was it measured and if it was for liver disease, were all the other liver function tests normal?

I don't know about the other liver function tests, Sqad. I went to the doctors about my hair falling out... You answered my question on that as well. I think she was just wanting to be thorough so she tested just about everything.

About medication... I take naproxen once a day for an inflamed tendon in my shoulder and cetirizine for allergies. I came off the pill earlier this year as well.
Nothing to worry about. Another BT in October? thats ok, If they said come back now (right now) Thats when you worry.
You're frightened of the 'unknown' erin, we ALL are. You're fine stop worrying.

Thanks for your helpful feedback, the abnormal test cannot be ignored, but I agree with jemisa, it is no big deal as an isolated reading, which may be a "one off."

It will need repeating.
