I have had a manky toe so I have been walking stupidly so that I didn't put any weight on my toes. However, whilst my toe is now loads better the muscles in my calf now feel really tight and uncomfortable. Can I do anything to alleviate this or do I just have to suck it up and get on with it? Thanks.

I expect people's legs feel like this when they have been to the gym (perish the thought). Might not be so uncomfortable if both legs felt the same.
I would have thought walking normally would put you to rights? Just go slowly for a while
My guess is if you are now trying to walk normally, things will come back to normal over a short period. In your shoes I'd just put up with it for a short while.

Hi jno, that's the problem. Off on holidays v v soon and I was so worried about my manky toe that I over-compensated with the stupid walking and now I have done something (exercised?) the muscle in my leg.

Thanks OG.
maybe some gentle exercises to stretch the tendons in the back of the leg? suggest you stand on a step/phone directory/thick plank of wood (anything that gets you off the ground) with most of your foot overhanging and just allow your heels to drop down and bounce (gently!!) Great for stretching the muscles etc.

Thanks RSVP, I wil have a go at that tomorrow.
ah, then you need a quick solution... the exercises suggested here make sense
As well as the gentle stretching and exercise you could try some massage therapy or osteo to release the muscles a bit quicker if you need a quick fix.

You could also try heat pads and a nice hot bath with some of the muscle relax soak you can buy (doesn't work wonders but nice and relaxing), I usually stick some dead sea salts in as well and some radox crystals you can get in a box.

Try and relax yourself as might be harder to release muscles generally if you are tensed up - hence why a bath is good too.
