My leg has gone strange

Over the course of the day, my left leg has swollen considerably, from just above the knee right down to the foot. It is not hot, not painful and not discoloured. It feels tight and looks odd.
Any thoughts?

Also, I haven't twisted it, stumbled or done anything that might cause an injury
Is your walk-in centre still open? - I'd pop along.
Yes I have some thoughts ?
Question Author
boxy, the nearest walk in is 30 miles away and will be horrendous on a Friday night

Tony, whatever they are, keep them to yourself...unless you want "the look"
Could it be some kind of edema swelling? I'd want to get it checked out in case of anything like DVT if it's swollen a lot over such a large area. Could you call the out of hours GP and get their advice? They could book you into out of hours doc or get you sent to A&E or give other advice as appropriate.
Could you have been bitten Mrs O? (shurrup Tony! ;) )
Do you react badly to bites? I wonder if some nasty little insect has had a nag and perhaps Piriton or another anti histamine might help. (although don't take any notice of me, I am hopeless with medical stuff. I kind of have a tacit agreement with Sqad, he doesn't muck about with legal stuff and I don't much about with medical stuff).
Could it be writer's cramp? ;-)
Does the NHS have a help line you could phone mrs o.
( don't want the look again ).

No bites.
I've looked up the symptoms of DVT and they don't seem to fit.
I might try and get an appointment as my GP has a Saturday surgery
Probably okay but I would like you to get some expert advice now. Not tomorrow....tonight. Please.
OH had DVT. Swollen and very painful calf. Nothing above the knee.
Have you been sitting about/had a recent operation/are dehydrated? First thoughts would be DVT but that tends to be "a swelling" rather than a swollen leg. It`s usually hot to touch, can be red and can ache. The fact that it is only one leg is unusual (without any previous injury). My inclination would be to check it out.
Question Author
Nag, nag, bloody nag gness. OK, I'll phone NHS Direct
Please Mrs O Get some medical advice tonight.
Question Author
237, no to all your questions (sitting around, op etc)
NHS Direct are a bit hit and miss though. Let us know how you get on (how far is your nearest casualty if your walk in place is 30 miles away?).
Well I`d worry and we have yet to sort out those rights. x
mrs_o, please get sorted asop x
asap^
