I've been on Janumet since Monday having had limited results with Metformin on it's own.
Blood sugar count is on the way down already, good news. Unfortunately I seem to have had a rapid deterioration in my ability to read text whether printed on electronic.
I've used reading glasses in artificial light for a few years now but have had no problems with reading in daylight or on the computer screen.
I've checked the leaflet that came in the pack of tablets and there's no indication that this could be a side effect annd so far I've found nothing similar on line.
Distance vision is as sharp as ever so I guess it could just be "one of those things" but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else out there has had a similar experience on Janumet and if it maybe rights itself eventually before I run back to the doc in a lather.

Stuff the doctor. Make an appointment with an optician!
It's probably just a coincidence. (I've been short-sighted since early childhood but my ability to see things close-up became noticeable over a very short space of time, as I approached the age of 50. Despite always having had blood-sugar levels which are 'all over the place', I'm not diabetic).
Your optician should be told that you're diabetic as he/she will then be looking for any problems which might stem from your diabetes (rather than from the drug you're taking to treat it):

Odd, very odd.
What are your blood sugar readings and how often do you tale them?
Your eye symptoms may well have nothing to do with your Janumet although it is odd that the presented themselves with the starting of the drug.
Monitor the situation over the weekend with blood sugars twice daily and if there is no improvement then do what Buenchico suggests.......see an Optician.

Cheers all. I already attend an optician who knows my history and have annual retinopathy scans. Neither have seen any cause for concern in the recent but yes, something's obviously changed.
Blood sugars have been a bit on the high side, 12+ sometimes on the daily monitor and an average of 11ish from a blood test at the health centre, hence the change in medication.
Now that the warm weather's here and it's more pleasant to be out and about we're hoping that some exercise will help things too.
