The more information you can give the better in my opinion.
Now the rules have changed and if you're not on benefit I think it's DLA you are assessed by OT/social services and they decided if you need one so you have to convince them that you do as far as I know.

I applied for a badge for my mother who was disabled after a serious fall. We had to see the GP who wrote an exact list of my mother's conditions, fall etc. Then we applied for the badge. Even though we saw the GP, my mother then had to have a medical check by a clerk from our local council, who was not even medically trained! It took ten weeks to get the badge. This February is ran out and we had to repeat the whole procedure. Also, they do not automatically send you a new badge when it expires. It took £2 the first time round and £10 this year!!! Good luck
I thought it was automatic entitlement if you were in receipt of DLA High rate mobility but if you don't get that, then I believe it is down to the local authority to make the decision. If your doctor is willing to support then, yes I would say send whatever you can. I don't think doctors have been directly involved for some time. Good luck with the application.
I think it is automatic too fpcat if you receive DLA. It is down to people who aren't medically trained to decide now as in occupational therapists or the council giving the badges. The more details you can give and substantiate at time of assessment will help and yes the fee will be £10 now so we are told.
just got my new badge 2 weeks ago,it has to be renewed every 3 years, this time it cost £20,a huge form to fill in,photo, you need to send in your birth certificate, disability entitlement letter, the form asks what disabilities you have, medicines, walking distances, what help you need etc.but dont let it put you off, they get in touch with your doctor.are you on dla just now and what level are you on???
fee £20 in scotland,i got sent a meter clock thing but we dont use them here but need it if in england or wales
If you are in receipt of higher level mobility DLA you should get it. If not, send in Doctors letters/specialists letters- as much as you can.
I know someone who is on high rate DLA who was recently turned down for a blue badge. I would advise you to get as much evidence as possible.

thanks everyone.
i am not on any kind of dla etc ...myconditions effects come andgo and i want to work.
i can walk perfectly ok... for short distances, then it gets very very painful - today is a bad day... yesterday i was actually crying with the pain(and frustration too i suppose)

i want the badge to helpwith my work...as it involves a lot of running around to many shops for 10-12 hours a day, also lifting and carrying.
the badge will mean i do nothave to give up my job as soon as i might without it.
im notreally sure whether to mention all that inthe application,or just act like i am in agony all the time... dont wwant being honest to go against me.

i will see my doctor asap
Joko, from what I know of it, the disability has to be all the time not on and off, so best you say it is all the time and not that you have good and bad days because they really don't understand that IMO. I feel that if anyone is affected 75% of the time then it's all the time as you never know what each day will bring. Best of luck, I hope it turns out ok for you.
I have a Blue Badge because I have terminal throat cancer and I had to give my doctor's and consultant's details. Without these I doubt you would be awarded a BB. You will see all this on the form. All your medical health answers are checked. Good luck.
