Thanks to all who contributed on my recent threads.

I saw one of the practice nurses/HCAs today for a routine arthritis blood screen and they did a wee dipstick thing.

As soon as she took it out she said I had an infection. Said it showed up blood, protein, bilirubin and urosomething (??? no idea what that is if anyone knows?).

She said they will send the sample off for more tests and checked with a GP who said they want the test results back to know exactly what they are dealing with before any treatment etc... so will see what that shows up. Had the usual bloods for blood count, liver, kidneys and inflammation too.

Guess they are checking what kind of infection as to what to treat it with?

Sqad, if you're about, is it possible some of it could be gallstones related so expected/explainable as such?

Still no op date yet. Had immunology appointment and they found some allergies (said they think oral allergy syndrome) but no allergy to latex which is great for it not delaying the op further. They mentioned an anaesthetist referral might be needed first but I've heard nothing further yet and hoping an infection won't hold anything up either.

Oh and for Rowan if you see this, no ketones...yay :)
The water is still muddy.

Blood and protein in the urine would certainly suggest a problem n the G.U system, but not necessarily an infection.

Bilirubin and or Urobilinogen in the urine would not suggest a urinary infection, but MIGHT suggest a liver problem.

If your urine is not dark and your stools are not pale, then we can rule out gallstones as a cause of your problem.

It is looking more like a urological problem each day, so keep us informed of the results of further tests.

Thanks sqad, will do. Not had the dark/pale thing for a bit now. Had it leading up to ending up in hospital with acute cholecystitis - I remember my GP ringing to tell me my scan confirmed gallstones and saying to look out for that and saying I already had it! Been ok since though.

Was worrying a bit in case it meant another bad gallstone thing (as in back in hospital bad as opposed to usual bad) might be on the way as due to start a new job transfer a week Monday and training my replacement all next week so not a great time especially with waiting for the op too.

Something showed up on my liver blood results before Christmas but they retested them and said they came back normal.

Yay, got my new operation date today!!! 9th March and counting down! :)
Question Author
Not much of an update but have some antibiotics on a three day course as really didn't feel very well on Friday (or yesterday) so doctor gave me some to try in the meantime while waiting for the test results to come back. Got amoxicillin as Dr didn't seem sure if I could have trimethopram (I think) with being allergic to Septrin (brings me out in a rash). Came up with a really red/pink nose and cheeks last night though so hoping I'm not sensitive to that too!

Further to getting my op date for 9 March I got my anaesthetist consultant appointment through for 20 March so have no idea what's going to happen when again now...argh!
