Where can you buy your own parachute for B.A.S.E. and normal jumping?

As every parachutist knows if you have not done a parachute jump then you have not lived. I would just like to know if you can buy your own chute and then pack it again yourself with training. Where is the best place to buy parachutes and other stuff and how do you learn to pack your own chute?

If anyone here can speak from experience here then all to the good otherwise I hope you will not jump to conclusions with my question.

I have not done a jump, by the way, which is why I am asking this.

I would think that the training comes as part of a course - you can't just throw yourself out of a plane without clearance. I feel sure that you would need some sort of certificate in order to parachute, even for fun.

Before you buy your own chute it would be very wise to do a few training jumps with the school equipment. Instructors at the school will know the best place to getyour own chute once you are ready.

I think it would be best to find your nearest place that does parachuting and go along. Best to actually experience a jump before buying a parachute and learning to pack it. You may hate it and have wasted your time and money.

Isn't base jumping illegal anyway?
If you've never jumped before and seek to bypass regulations and safety protocols you're possibly harbouring a deep seated death wish.
