I get really annoyed with people for commenting that I won't go anywhere without make up.  By no means do I plaster it on but it makes me feel more confident and I do it for pride.  I used to think that people who wore make up everyday were tarts but now I think the opposite.  It's the people who don't wear make up who are the confident ones who obviously think they look good enough without out.  I won't even let my bf see me without it.  What do you think?

Everyone should feel free to do as they want, as they feel comfortable with and that goes for you too, MissCommando - if you want to wear make-up, you wear it, sweetheart.
And if your going Commando::You must feel quite confident!!

I'm a bit of both - at work I don't wear make up at all and I don't wear it at home indoors, but come 5pm on a friday I do slap it on to head down the pub, I also won't leave the house of a weekend unless my hair is clean and I have make up on.

I guess at work I really couldn't give a flying wotsit what people think of me, but in 'my' time I like to make the effort, I feel good about myself and enjoy the attention I get.

I don't by any stretch of the imagination wear a lot of make up, but am still too lazy too do it day in day out for work, that also goes for hair straightening which I cannot be arsed to do during the week either!

As you said in your question
make up ........ your own mind.
I hardly ever wear it because as a teenager I had aproblem with a sweaty scalp and face when it was hot - discos etc.
Make up then wasn't as good as it is now - very heavy and tended to streak lots - not a pretty sight!
Consequently I never really learned how to put make up on properly and so I don't have the confidence to apply it.
What's wrong with a bit of enhancement - it doesn't hurt you or anybody else, or conversely what's wrong with going bare faced if that's what you choose
This is very interesting and i agree its personal taste. Strangely i am the opposite of natalie_1982, I make a mini-effort for work (by that i only mean concealer mascara & a bit lipgloss) not because i care what my colleagues think but it makes me feel better. At the weekend i generally wear no make up and dont even dry my hair never mind straighten it. Poor Mr Eeeek i probably look awful! Dont know if it has influenced me but my mum used to cake it on, i remember her in the 80s with a face full of slap, blue eyeshadow etc etc - nice!

So, you're all make-up & no knickers then MissCommando!!  (glad I was wrong about you being up trees & getting arrested btw).

As a mature(ish) female I won't even put the wheelie bin out without foundation & mascara!  Well, not really but I certainly don't go out barefaced.  In fact I'm just about to slap some on to go to the shops - you're right, it's a confidence thing.  :-< oops too much lippy!!

Moisturiser, concealer, Mascara and lippy are a must if I go out anywhere.  Extra care with eyes and some nice foundation, blusher and Lippy if I go anywhere special and absolutely no makeup if  I'm staying at home and its just me and Mr FP.  Eeeek - poor Mr FP too, but he doesn't make any effort either when he's at home!

Do what you feel comfortable and happy with. x

i know what you mean MissCommando i feel like a dog with out make up. I always feel better with it on, it's like a mask behind which you can be whoever you want. Sod the people who are making comments, it's your face and you can do whatever you want to it.

I love wearing make up. It's just part of my routine in the morning so don't think anything of it but I don't mind my bf or anyone seeing me without it, though when I was younger I wouldn't step outside without mascara on but that's just a confidence thing and you tend to get more confident about your looks as you get older. All my friends and most of the women I work with wear make up on a daily basis too. A full face - foundation, blusher, eyeshadow etc would look OTT on most women during the day but a bit of lippy, mascara and face powder makes the difference between me looking tired and looking 'polished' and ready for anything. It's your face, so just do what makes you feel comfortable :o)

Thanks for all your answers.  lol, I have a bad reputation on here now, everyone making comments about me going commando  lol  I'm a shy girl really :P

There's nothing wrong with that MissCommando. Each to their own, as the other posts said. Personally I'm a bit of both like Natalie, though its the other way around - make an effort for work and going out in the evenings, but not so much for casual outings.

I will just about go to the corner shop without make up but no further.  Can't imagine coming to work without it. But at home I don't care - it'd be pretty hard for my bf not to see me without it!  I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to wear it, though.  I enjoy putting make up on and take a big interest in colours, formulations etc.

I'm just going out to the gym, but made sure i had mascara, a bit of subtle eyeshadow and lippy on! Well y not?

During the week, at work, i tend to wear some mascara and blusher, at weekends if im going out, i wear tinted moisturer, eye shadow, mascara and blusher, so that if i do go out, i look as though ive made more of an effort, if i wore the same make up I wouldnt look any different when i went out with my mates etc! See what I mean!?!
I had to wear it for my old job for 2 and a half years so i am too used to wearing for work to not wear it, though as soon as iget home it usually comes off and im not bothered who sees me out really, although if im going to the pub for a night out i will put some on but if im just going for a quiet drink i must admit i dont usually bother. Probably as we were made to wear it like to not wear it to and feel alot fresher without the slap. If i had bad skin i probably would though but im ok with how i look generally....

Hiya.  I never ever wear make up.  I think mainly because I am lazy and have never really learnt to put it on.  Also, i am scared that i would be one of those girls who wears far too much, doesn't put it on properly and ends up looking worse!!!  Not that I am knocking anyone, but the thought of having to spend extra time getting ready putting make up on when i could be doing something more fun or getting more sleep seems crazy to me.  Isn't it weird what you get used to.  I have recently thought about taking make up lessons but even then I think i still wouldn't do it everyday.  I guess I have got used to not wearing any.  I hope this post doesn't come accross as being engatvie or horrible.  Just letting you know my point of view!
