What are we treating?
In my personal experience almost immediately, within 10 mins at most.
I find about 20 mins for ibuprofen
I always think 20 mins to take effect, max strength about 2 hours and worn off after 4.
reply to sqad different symptoms different results

well actually nothing in this instance....just want a general estimate

i have always wondered, but what prompted me to ask is that i am using an epilator - and its utterly killing me...

it usually hurts somewhat, but for some reason today its hurting much more, and is unbearable...

i have painkillers often for other things, and havent had any for about 6 hours so wondered if maybe thats why i can stand it other times...

thought id take some, wait a wee while then try again.

sort of a test

cheers
joko....I seemed to remember that you were on long term analgesics for an arthritic condition and if i am correct, then the tablets may work within 20 mins OR they may not work at all.

You will just have to see.

yes i take cocodamol, 30/500 regularly.

i will just wait about half an hour and see

cheers

its been about 45 mins now and just tried it again...unsurprisingly it still kills...but i can stand it more...so it seems they have some effect, but its minimal...
if you take regular pain meds, it's often better to take one co-codamol every two hours than two every four hours - you get a much more regular effect than bigger dips when the four hour regime wears off. i have started to do this on the advice of my pain consultant and it has improved things greatly. you could do this with ibuprofen by taking 200mg every two hours, too. x

hiya, yes i do that too...not always, depends on convenience but i find its better too...especially with the ibuprfen
I find that using an ice pack/frozen veg etc. wrapped in a towel on the area just before you use the epilator really helps. Just remember to dry it off before you start though :) x
