hi. I accidentally rubbed a small patch of skin off my leg the other day. It came up in a small blister for a few days, which then popped. Since then, the area has been leaking serous fluid (and jolly annoying it is too) Dosen't look infected. I have been out of "hands on" nursing for some years now and just can't decide what to do with it (well that's not entirely true - i am going to have to cover it cause it keeps running down my leg into my shoe!). Anyway, it's on the same leg as the knee replacement on friday and i'm wondering if i ought to take it more seriously, or get soe jus in case antibiotics? What do you all reckon (not red, painful, pusy- just clear)

A bit confused....have you had the knee replacement on Friday or are you having the knee replacement on Friday?
Personally I'd just cover it to avoid further knocks and soak up the seepage. See how it goes. But I'm no medical expert.

having it on friday. I just don't want anything to jeopardise it!
OK...I agree with Old_Geezer............but if it doesn't settle within a couple of days, then you must inform the Orthopods.

ok, thanks - it's already been doing it for 2 days
They may well cancel the knee operation if it is in anyway at risk of infection, I would see your GP and see if they think you need antibiotics. A knee replacement is a big op, they wont take this lightly IMO.
i agree with RATTER, even a small open would may delay surgery. hope not.
You're not having a jolly good time lately are you ? :(
