Last night me and OH went out for a rare p1ss up and my FIL was babysitting with his newish partner (wife died nearly 4 years ago) We were talking about their relationship a bit throughout the night and although my OH admits he finds it hard to see them together after the death of his mum he is happy for them. This was the first time she had been to our house and we were joking about them having it off on our bed lol!
Anyway we live in a 3 storey house so the living room is upstairs. After what we thought was NOT very quietly coming in and shutting the door then me going straight upstairs I walk in the room and they are both so engrossed in snogging each other they dont even notice me there! I sort of looked in horror which quickly changed to embarrassment then I went to switch the lamp on (they had the big light on). It was only then they saw me and FIL said oh we didnt even here you come in! Obviously not I thought. I said nothing and talked about the meal, pretending nothing had happened but inside I could have died! I mean I had a feeling they were 'getting it on' and am not naive enough to think you should stop having sex at 63 but I just dont want to see my FIL snogging a woman on my settee. It should have been the other way round, talk about role reversal!

And I thought the younger generation were much more liberated than us!! Obviously not. Get real and be happy for your father in law. Life doesn't end because you are turned sixty and, although he probably wishes his wife was still here, he has to move on. Be happy for him, not embarrassed. After all, he wasn't exactly naked and "at it"
I'm with you on this tig, it was well cringeworthy lol. Fair enough, life doesn't end at 63, but there are just some things you don't want to see and your FIL getting it on with his lady friend must rate pretty highly I would imagine :D
its nice to see that level of passion is still alive and well in your 60s! ;)
In saying that I hope to be still 'at it' when I'm in my 60's and well beyond ;-)
Well I'm well into my sixties and I' lov.............no, let's not go there

mt 60 + pal has found a new man[ wife died 5 years ago] on the net and its early days but she is ever so ever so nervous about meeting his family, next time sing very loudly as you climb the stairs ! she must be every bit as embarrassed as you, and it sounds as though you coped quite well.Hope you enjoyed your night out anyway.
