Hello.

2 days ago i woke up with a really sore eye. It's sounds weird but it fees like i've been punched in the face, but there's no bruising, swelling etc It's quite painful if i close my eyes tightly.

Any ideas what it might be or if i should go and see a doctor?

it could be a migraine but if it's new for you, you should see your gp.
I'd go and see an optician myself - GP may well be able to help, but the optician is the specialist where eyes are concerned. They can look inside the eye and see if there is any bruising or swelling.

I was going to go and see my doctor, but didn't want them to think i was maybe wasting their time.
hi this sounds like a sty to me i got them alot few years ago.. and they started as tho my eye lid was bruised when i touched it ... can you see a vey small pin head lump right on or just under the rim of the eye lid?....if not then you will probably find a lump appear in a few days..... unless its something else
I don't think it's a stye, that's quite a localised sensation. Drop into your local optician before the holiday (i.e. tomorrow!) and ask if they can give you a once-over. They may charge, but because of the hols it'll probably be quicker than trying to see your GP.
If you can't see anything obvious then it might be a blocked sinus. Do you get hayfever? You can get the pain all around and behind the eye and it does feel bruised. Maybe you could try something like Sudafed nasal spray and breathing steam over a bowl of boiling water. If this doesn't work then it might be infected and you'll need antibiotics.
More information required.......is the pain relieved by analgesics e.g Ibuprofen. Is the eye red? How old are you? Is your vision in that eye normal?

Do get the eye checked by a qualified Optician in case you are getting a build up of pressure in the eye.Ron.
