Do you do this? For example if you were having an argument with someone in the Society and Culture topic, would you then ignore that persons question in Technology, for example. Or do you just help were you can but stand your ground in other sections?

Yes, sorry, I do.

I know you're not supposed to, but im only human, honest! If someone pees me off on a particular topic, there's no way I can be cool with them on another thread, certainly not immediately after the one that annoyed me anyway. If some time had passed between our paths crossing then yeah, i can at least be civil.

I think alot of it also depends on whether you like the person you've just had a squabble with. For example, I've had one ot two disagreements with say Dris and Ummm for example but as i normally like them and get along ok with them, i tend not to let the disagreement spill over.
it happens a lot, look at the stuff markrae gets, he doesnt even have to be on the thread!
its a QA site,! does it matter, but there one or two, whos posts i avoid.
i tend to avoid threads where the OP irritates me, but i guess i would answer a q if i knew the answer and could help
I kind of had a squabble with someone about a month ago but then I answered a question of theirs on their own thread and they seemed to take notice of what I said. I really don't like squabbling with anyone on here anyway.
There are a couple of people whose threads I avoid but apart from that I answer questions from anyone if I know the answer. So that's not a lot!
There, ya see Anne? It does matter ;-)
I can honestly say BOO...with hand on my heart...that you have never ever ever ever annoyed me :-) xx
no, lol-you me neither ummmmm. Sorry if you thought i did mean that. What I meant was, we've often disagreed on something, but never carried it over to other threads.
I have falled out with Anotheroldgit over on News - but only insofar as I am withdrawing from communicating with him directly. i still go on his Questions, and will debate with other AB'er's there, but I am not wasting my time trying to argue with him on a one-to-one basis, it's just not worth the time and effort.

Other than that, I don;t fall out with people if it can be avoided - and usually it can.
I like the snog, marry, avoid approach on AB.

And no, I'm not going into details of who falls into which category!
You don't need to Eccles....most of us already know!!
Nope...I don't but if someone doesn't like someone else on here, they probably just avoid their posts etc
I find ignoring the person you don't get along with, helps me not to get into a slanging match with them.it works for me, Ummm and I don't get along, neither did Dris and I so ignoring is the best policy for me
Bobbi - do you take every opportunity to say that? I'm sure everyone on the site already know so saying it over and over and over and over again is a bit pointless!!!

We have our reasons....don't forget that!
believe me, I haven't!
end of..............
I await enlightenment Ummm, (says Eccles, not heading her own advice ;-) )
Don't tell people 'end of' (or butt out)

You shouldn't keep bringing my name into things.

And ignoring people 'end of' on a Q&A site is a bit against the essence of it...don't you think?
Interesting post, flobadob, but potentially quite confrontational!! My answer is - no, I don't - I have had er... disputes with an ABer no longer here, but could be quite chatty with her on another different topic.
