If you think you will enjoy it/ stick to it. Go for it, it will certainly assist in your weight loss goals if you do 3-4 x 45 min sessions per week perhaps. Combined with a bit of running on the machine too and stick to the good diet, including lots of water!

I prefer my rowing machine.
Road bike or excercise bike?
Yes it will assist with weight loss and gives a good cardiovascular workout.
Obviously, combined with a good diet.
As long as you don't eat or drink whilst on you bike you will certainly lose weight.

oops, sorry . yes an exercise bike. i have a good diet, just want to make sure if i invest in an exercise bike it will help me. oh, ps, cant use a rowing machine sadly, dodgy back.!!
so eating a box of cream cakes whilst on the bike is a no no then? Bugger!

I have an exercise bike in my wardrobe - my little boy cat uses it as a climbing frame.
I had to stop using the bike as my ash used to drop on the floor............
I have onw too wolf, its currently holding several things on coat hangers that I haven't got round to putting in the wardrobe.
Ok, anyone use their excercise bikes for.... you know..... excercise!!
Wolfie,as you have probably now found out there really is no room to ride an exercise bike in the wardrobe.Ron.
don't be silly jd!!!
No they are booooring............I use a treadmill and a Nordic track stepper.
i used to work for nordictrack until they went bust. i thought the ellipse machine was pretty good.
Personally i prefer riding my bike than jogging when exercising

I cycle to work every day (7 mile round trip) even though its not a massive amount it does help counteract all the rubbish I eat/drink.

In warmer weather I've been know to extend the commute and do a 15 mile off road route home or maybe cycle up a tough hill on the way in.

As Pinki say, just banging out miles on an excercise bike in front of Corrie wouldnt give you any sense of satifaction - get out there!

Yep, get a real bike. Where in the country are you? There are bound to be some excellent cycle routes.

Last weekend I headed out to the Peak District with a few friends and we defeated Winnats Pass (I say defeated, most of us survived going down it - only one of us turned around and went up it as well) - amazing stuff and impossibly good for you.

A decent road bike only costs around £500 and is a mode of free transport forever! Well worth it, even if, eventually, you only use it to pitch yourself down at the pub and back.
