Putting a drip in a baby's head?

I know a mother who is currently in Asia and if their 1 year old baby has a temperature when they take him to the doctors they immediately put a drip in the baby's fore head. This sounds absolutely rediculous to me. It actually stops the mother taking the child to the doctors unless he is really bad. Like now he has a slight temperature and a cough but they are monitoring him and if he getrs worse they will take him to the doctors. What would you suggest? Take him at the slightest temperature and get him filled up with drugs or wait and see if it worsens but how can you tell if it bad enough to take him to the doctors? I know kids get ill quite a lot and recover quickly so when do you take them to the doctors?

Sqad, how do you know that anneasquith is male? it says female on her profile.
daffy...when he first arrived, he was "mouthy" from the start.....BUT.....so are many females :-)
Then there was a thread about underwear...can´t remember the details, but anne posted an answer which contained the mention of "leather thongs" and in the context of the thread, it was a typical male response.
Still think it's poodicat...
I don't suppose it really matters to me whether s/he is male or female... and if s/he is poodicat it won't be long before the true nature is displayed.
if it makes you feel better ummm and sqad, never nursed in my life, never been a patient, sadly still female, ive been on benefits all my life. you happy now ?
Why would that make me happy?

I couldn't give two hoots but when you claim to have been a nurse some posters might listen to your crap advice.
anne...no......I am still not convinced that you are female.

NoK or Mr Veritas.
It's not NOK Sqad....

Daffy...I think it became pretty obvious after about day 3.

Pity...I use to like 'crete'
i am very careful re giving advice as on this site i am an aber, you ummm for some reason continually bring up the issue that i in a thread stated i worked as a nurse, what is your problem, go find someone else to bully and make snide comments about. i am withdrawing from this thread as it is utterly pointless, so it allows you to have the last word on the subject,

Well I may not be up to date on my grammar but at least I can spel.
<<ward sister,,,,,,, 70^s you know what quad im not totally convinced about you.but im sure that is of no great concern of yours, and nor should it be, have a nice day. ps. my answer was honest .<<<

Does that say "ward sister" anne?
But I'm not allowed to bring it up...!!!
Were ward sisters not nurses back in the 70s then?
There do seem to be a few inconsitencies in this person's stories.
daffy....in those days ward sisters were ward sisters and nurses were nurses, two different breeds.....one hoped and strived to become a ward sister and they had a certain amount of respect.
But you have to be a trained/qualified nurse to become a ward sister, you can't be one without the other surely!
daffy........1950`s......1980´s one had to go through the route of student nurse, staff nurse and then sister.

I do not know if you can be appointed sister just with a University degree without spending time on the wards............mind you I would believe ANYTHING now.
There are several AB nurses who would put you up to date.
I think i'm just getting more and more confused now sqad :)

Is anne male or female and was he or she ever a nurse? Or was that all just made up to try and find out if you are genuinely a doctor?

If, as has been stated anne was previously known by the usernames 'crete' and 'finethanks', then it would appear by reading the previous names posts that the user is male ?!?
She was always female before...as 'crete' and as 'finethanks'
