i started a new job 2 months ago and work 15 hrs a week,mon to fri,i work on the bank holidays so i get lieu days for this.my question is,how long do i get to take my lieu days?i always believed i had 12 months to take them but my boss says i have to take them in the same month that i earned them?is this right?

I do not believe that there is any statutory legislation to cover this. Your employer can thus demand what it likes. Just check with a few work colleagues that it seems to be the norm - and not some fanciful invention of your boss. 12 months would seem pushing it a bit, but you could try negotiating for 3 months to take it. Surely most folks want one day off at least every 3 months.
Things like this ought to be in your contract of employment. Have a chat with HR.
