Odd question probably. In the news it mentions that Jade Goody is in considerable pain and that she will have a pouch sewn into her wedding dress for drugs. When cancer is in the early stages, it is usually painless, that's why it often goes undetected. What actually causes the terrible pain that people suffer from later on? Is it because a tumour has grown so large it presses on nerves? Can anyone explain? Poor girl, I feel so sorry for her and anyone else going through such horror.

I don't know what causes the pain but my Dad was drinking morphine and every opportunity.
yes its the pressure of a tumor on the body's organs or on bone or nerves
I do hope the head of the Catholic Schools that refused to let their girls have the cervical cancer innoculations are reading her story

Thanks everyone. Yes ummmm, my Dad and brother had cancer and drank morphine all the time towards the end. Horrible bloody disease, wish they could find a cure for it once and for all.
It's a horrible way to die.
is it pain..? or the effects of the hideous treatment she's having..?
My dad had oramorph and a syringe driver ,He found the oramorph very bitter and the ' hospice at home ' nurse said to mix it with coke as it took the taste away.......Stunned silence from me before I realised she meant cola!!
lol.....

hippyhoppy, my brother chose not to have chemo or anything as he knew there was no chance. He just had the "palliative" treatment as they call it and he still had to have lots of morphine towards the end so it can't be the treatment she's having.
oh - ok - sorry.. My mum didn't have pain per se.. just sickness and tiredness from the chemo..
I agree my dad was not having treatment and his was a blood cancer so no growth involved. I think it's the general physical pain of the body shutting down.

I beat myself up daily about how i worried about the amount of Oramorph my husband swigged, if only i had realised. But i think i was just afraid of him losing the capacity to be on the same planet as me, i wish he was here with the bottle now.

God bless Jade
