Has anyone done a 10K run before, either running or walking? If so, how long did it take you and how long, leading up to the event, did you train for?

I'm doing The British 10K next Sunday and only started training yesterday. Do you think I'll make it, as I'm not great at running?

Hello Velvetee, I've done a few 10ks, although I'm running is not my main sport. Best time I've done is around 50 minutes (I'm a 42 year old female), and this won't win me any prizes! You'll make it, and you'll find in any mass partiipation event there will be people of all shapes and sizes and speeds.
Just enjoy the day.
I did the 5K race for life in 34 minutes this year and I am not fit at the moment!! That was jogging and walking.

So if you are like me - you could do the 10K in about 1 hour 10 mins.

If you walk the whole thing, I would say 1 hour 45 mins?

Good luck.

P.S. I ached for 3 days after and had to crawl up the stairs to the amusement of my dog!!
Hi Velvetee, I'm 50+, smoke 20+ a day, and walked a 10k in 1 hour 30mins without any prep. Came home, had smoked
salmon and champagne with my co-walkers, bathed and then went dancing for 4 hours. Woke up in the morning and was amazed that I could actually walk!!! Go for it and enjoy -completing one of these things is a major achievement however you do it
