My wife had an untrasound scan which has show Gall Stones. We had a feeling this would be the reason behind the pains and Jaundice. However the Dr said that the bile duct was not blocked so was unsure why she has jaundice.

Any ideas? Dr said it could be Hepatitis A, caught from baby nappy etc. Seems unfortunate to have Gall Stones and Hep A at the same time!

Could she be on any medications (or topical creams or similar) which could affect skin colour or liver function.

I'm on sulfasazine which can give your skin an orange tinge.

There are other reasons for jaundice other than blockage of the bile duct eg a viral infection of the bile duct (hepatitis/glandular fever), damage to the liver cells eg alcohol abuse, tumors,.

Does she have any other symptoms and has she had other tests done eg bloods (liver panel, white cell count) or a scan?

shes has had an ultrasound scan done which has found gall stones, but none seem to be blocking anything.
