Hi Donna, I'd be there with you. Lost 1 stone already, 2 or 3 more to go depending on how ambitious i get!
Question Author
well you keep at it hun, I have lost eleven stones now with a gastric band. Which diet are you following, I swear by Weight Watcher and Slimming World (Red Days and Green Days if you can hack it without carbs on a red days). I lost lots of weight with WW but put it all back on again when I had a back injury nearly three years ago. I thought by lolsing the 11 stones (and 2 - 3 to go yet) my back would heal, however, just had some bad news from my Orthopeadic Surgeon that once a bad back, always a bad back ! I dont want another operation and that goes for any loose skin I have at the moment. Granted there isnt much as my skin is quite elasticated (there is a God).

Even with the GB you still have to be careful with what you eat and I am now back to the NHS for a Dietcian due to the fact that my GB surgery has gone wrong a couple of times (wouldnt recommend it to ANYONE) . I paid privately for my operation and NO ONE can fault the NHS because they have been great with me since everything started to go wrong.

Anyway back to dieting.

Which area are you from hun?

I am 12 stones 5 lbs today and if we are starting a diet thread, then yippppeeee we can all do it together, it will be fun to support each other. I start my day with a cup of coffee with lots of semi skimmed milk and sugar (for glucose). My dietician says we should steer clear of anything with saccarin in it as it makes our bodies crave for more as the saccarin wears off and thats when we crave for chocolate and sweet things !).

I have a great book and in my next post I will quote something for you.

Have a good day and remember - TASTE IS WAIST !

Hi Bush Baby. The book is .................. If not dieting then what by Dr. Rick Kausman and it is DEFINATELY worth a buy. It is 'for anyyone who is unhappy about their weight, confused about food and fed up with diets that don't work:' I think it is 6.99 from Waterstones or you could get a copy for free from your local library if you cant afford it or get to Waterstones.

It starts like this.

'We live in a crazy world. In some countries, millions of folk go to bed hungry every night and many cant get enough food to keep themselves alive. In other parts of the world (US and UK for eg) the food supply is so excesive that manufacturers use vast quantities of the worlds energy resources producing foods with fewer kilojoules. Their ultimate goal is to sell highly profitable puffed up products made of artificial ingredients so that people can eat as much as they like without gaining an ounce. The irony is thta the more of these products sold, the fatter the population becomes. In western countries many people despise body fat. Even those who are not too fat by any reasonable medical creiterion report feelings of guilt when they eat. Many constantly try to eat less and hate the sight of their perfectly normal bodies. Every new magic formula for weight loss, even if it involves some ABSUURDLY RESTRICTIVE regime, is hailed with great publicity by the media.

Is this making sense hun............................................
I would love to join please x
I have lost over a stone the past few weeks by switching my diet to rosemary conley and doing the exercise
I do love slimming world though but I think I was just eating too much and nothing was happening
I am 10 stone 2 now and want to be 9 stone
It is great to have support and what you have achieved is amazing xx
Question Author
Well Welcome Lil. This is going to be exciting and I happy that you have joined us with the BATTLE OF THE BULGE! I wanna be nine stones too ! I will be happy at 10 though ! When I was nearly 22 stones and a size 30 - 32 I wanted just to be a size 20 only when I got to a 20 I wanted to be an 18 because I thought that a size 18 was justifyable. Then folk continued to call me FAT !!! My own brother said to me in front of my little girl ' I see your diet isnt working' and that cut me to the bone since I had undergone TWO MASSIVE OPERATIONS - life risking at that !

Anyway, I have got myself a Life Coach and now chat on a Radio Programme Ladies at Lunch (bit like Loose Women) on the bare facts of Bariatric Surgery !

Today I sit here in a sizew 16 vest top with a little arm cardigan (dont know what they call them - is it a shrug?), a size 12 combats and a pair of size 5.5 boots (I used to be a size 7 - so I dont know how I lost 1.5 shoe sizes either).

You are doing SO WELL to have lost a stone. I like slimming world for all the tins of meatballs I could eat lol! but like you say, you find that you are perhaps eating a little too much at times. I craved the carbs yet on a green day, I couldnt live without the masses of meat that you are supposed to be able to eat!

I tried Rosemary Connolley too with a group of girls I used to work with in Aberdeen when I lived there. They THRIVED ON IT and lost LOADS of weight but me................ well I couldnt get to grips with it so I went back to Weight Watchers.

Okay, I am going on holiday with my little girl in June, only a short one to Pontins in Somerset (she loves Pontins) and I want to lose another stone by then - 10 weeks ! I am sure I can do it! I am sure we ALL can if we set our minds to it and keep the thread going for support (ALL WELCOME!).

I then want another stone off by October as we are going ski-ing to Canada and New York (back permitting) and coming back on the Queen Mary and there is NO WAY I want to not be able to get in a size 14 ball gown ! ( a 12 if at all possible!)

What are all our aims. We must I feel have something to aim for !

Good Luck and have a fun day eating healthily

SWEETIE PICKERS WEAR BIGGER KNICKERS !

Hugs.

I'd love that... After my baby is born, I have vowed to get my waist back as I went up two dress sizes last time and only lost one dress size. So don't want a repeat that pattern!

I'm in (but I'll have to join in 6 ish weeks) with abit of luck! x
There already is one in seasonal.People seemed really keen at first but posts drifted off after week 2.Lil and i posted on it and shes doing great, she`ll be a great support for you.And i would join in too of course.
Well YOU WILL DO IT !!! We are all here to support each other
My ex husband was always calling me fat even when I was very slim at about 7 and half stone once as I just stopped eating for a while
People who say things like that I think have issues with themselves and it makes them feel better to pull others down
You are amazing and a inspiration to many many women
My new boyfriend only ever says nice things to me now but the time I spent on my own I learnt that its what I feel inside that counts as when I weighed the least I felt the worst if you know what I mean
WE WILL DO IT xxxx

And we will be glad to have you Andrea. Remember though it is not always a good thing to start dieting straight after a baby. Healthy Eating Honey and lots of walking with your pram ! I lost 5 stones when I had Tilly because I didnt know how to fold the buggy down to get into a taxi for about 4 months !

Is your baby due in 6 weeks - oh gosh I bet you are SO EXCITED ! I am excited for you. This time 11 years ago I was in the same boat - feels like yesterday.

Remember though, your body will tell you what it needs to eat. This goes for dieters too. However, there IS a thing called DAMAGE LIMITATION !

For example....................if you crave chocolate - a crunchie bar is around 273 calories (forgive me if I am wrong - I have just put my bins out and there isnt a wrapper in sight!) lol! You could replace this with a coffee or tea with sugar (not saccarin in it) and a two finger kit kat - half the calories.

I sound like an expert dont I - well I am NOT by a long chalk ! I didnt get to 22 stones for nothing you know !

Have a great day and Andrea........................keep coming on to say Hello.

We LOVE IT !!!

Hey sorry for the late response, I can't access AB at work and don't come on here every day. I'm a Katie as well, so this could get confusing! That book sounds really good, I might go pick up a copy. And 11 stone weight loss is just amazing, congrats!

I'm not 'doing' a diet as such because I figured I totally need to change my attitude and routine to make this the norm rather than the exception. BUT I do have a well known milkshake at lunch time, as I have for some time anyway, mostly because its easy for me as I don't eat sandwiches (don't ask!) I used to have stuff like mcdonalds or jacket potatoes or marks and sparks salads before. I've crept up from 10 stone to 14 stone over the last 6 years (I'm 26 now and 5ft 6in) just by bad habits brought on by moving away from home. So I am now trying to make good habits instead!

So I've been going to the gym three times a week for an hour at a time and changing what and how much I eat. I'm already down to 13 stone but really want to get to 10 stone within the next 6 months, because I'm getting married next May and I'd love to order a size 10 wedding dress, not the size 16 I'm currently in.

So when I go to the gym I do 15 minutes interval training on the treadmill at 4mph and 15 minutes interval training on the bike at 80rpm, then some weight training and stretches. I'm trying to omit wheat and sugar from my diet as much as possible. I'm eating oat cheerios with ss milk for brekkie and a glass of juice, fruit and small piece of cheese midmorning, milshake at lunch, yoghurt and fruit smoothie mid afternoon, then a normal but smaller meal at dinner (like spag bol, chilli, steak and salad, stirfry etc)

I'm hoping I am creating new, better habits and heading for a nice slim me - but goodness isn't it hard (and boring) sometimes?!
But then again.............
Yes you're right hau kola , there is already one running in seasonal , started by invisible , it seems a few have remembered to log their weight on there regularly , but I did notice how well lil is doing on there :-)
Question Author
Wey hey well lets start one here then and keep it going. I have logged my weight at 12 stones 5 lbs this morning and thats me.

Welcome everyone, lets keep up the good work. The book I mentioned is amazing on changing your attitude to eating/dieting etc and well worth a read ! Austrailian Psychologist. One of the best books I have ever read (apart from Archers Prison Diaries) - see my thread in Gardening on Allotments !

I have started off good today and plan to keep it that way and have mince and mushrooms in the slow cooker for Tilly and I's tea with some small pasta shells (GB and child friendly).

Have a great day folks. My life coach has just been but my cleaner hasnt turned up !

See you when I get to work you guys.

I have done okay today and not gone for the sins of chocolate although I did buy a cornflake cake which is about the best for dieting as there are very few cals in them. I didnt eat it though (although I might in a minute now I come to think about it!).

My problem is is that everything has to be liquidised or really soft as my Gastric Band wont tolerate, meat, fish, chicken, large pasta and so on.

Its so demoralising at times but hey guess what I bought a STRETCHY top in that wonderful shop beginning with a P and ending in a K today and its a size 10. I have NEVER been a size 10 but to reiterate - it is STRETCHY ! LOL !

Good Luck and keep up the hard but great work.

Take Care.

Keep going on the diet today ladies. Its hard on a Saturday and Sunday I know but here is a quote from my wonderful book, if not dieting then what ..........................

I hope this will be inspirational.

'If we are deprived of the pleasure of food in a social context, or of its comfort and support in a number of life situations, it is almost impossible NOT to feel emotionally deprived in some way.'

I take this to mean that a little bit of what you fancy will NOT do you ANY harm in moderation.

Good Luck for today.

Bush Baby. You MUST remember that wedding dresses are very tiny in sizes. I have just bought a few in the sales for a cruise on the QM2 that Tilly and I are going on and even though I am a 16 top, they dont touch the edges at the moment. I have been told by a wedding dress shop it is because there is NO GIVE in them. I did buy one dress however and it was reduced from 1,385 to 100.00. It is gold with a 10ft train. My seamstress is going to chop off the train and leave just a small 1.5 ft on it, make a new back in it for me and a shrug (to cover 2 small tattoos on my shoulders) with the left over remnant. It is gold and it is beautiful with lots of crystals on the front. I got Tilly a replica Bridesmaid dress for 50.00 reduced from 300.00!

I will only wear it the once, you can have it after my cruise if you want !

Hey Katie, that sounds amazing, where is this shop? Sounds like the kind of place I need to look at! LOL at buying wedding dresses for a cruise though!! K x

Hi Bush Baby. The shop is Dan Kerr in Blackpool. I am not sure if he has a few shops. They have some beautiful dresses and have sales in August and January!

Amazing Stuff. I dont know how to post a link but if you just type in Dan Kerr Blackpool I am sure they will have a fantastic website.

Bush Baby, it is cheaper to buy wedding dresses in Wedding Dress Shop Sales than it is to have ball gowns made. having said that, there is to be a Black and White Masquerade Ball on the QM2 on one of the evenings coming back from New York. I have bought an AMAZING Black satin Ball Gown with a white panel down the back, criss crossed with black ribbon from a dry cleaners for 39 that someone had not bothered to pick up. There is a certain charity shop in Blackpool that a local Barristers wife takes all her ball gowns to. She is a size 7 and my little girl is a size 5. Last week I picked up one of her dresses, white satin with Black netting over it, Italian Designer, with a tiny cigarette burn in the back (a tiny hole thats all). I looked up the name of the dress on the internet and the prices start at 450.00. I bought the dress for Tilly, will have my seamstress take it in, chop what is too long at the bottom and have a shawl made for her with the left over remnant. 3.50 (three pounds 50 pence)! Last week we bought matching masks, black and white with sequins from a shop in Blackpool for 6.50 each and yesterday the PDSA had their NEW Tiaras on sale for 3.50 each so I bought two of them. One for Tilly and I. It is so exciting grabbing all these bargains. And why not, we will only ever wear them once coz after this spectacular holiday of a lifetime to celebrate my 40th and Tillys 10th Birthday its BACK TO BUTLINS AND BENIDORM WE GO !

Tell us all about your plans for your wedding. Have you heard of a website called Confetti. I think that is the name of it, a friend of mine who got married was addicted to it for MONTHS.

Come on ........ fill us in !

Love Katie. x
