I've just come off the injection after 5 years and apparently I could have any or all of this to look forward to-

Just thought I'd share it with others who may be getting the jag or thinking about it. I know not everybody will get these or indeed any problems but it's worth a read.
I don't remember my doctor telling me about any of this!

Thanks yinyang. My doctor sold it to me like it was the best contraceptive ever - I then put on two-and-a-half stones in six months. I'd previously been a size 10 and at the bottom of my BMI. I've struggled with my weight ever since and have only managed to shift a stone-and-a-half of that that I put on. When I went back to my doctor, he said he was aware it could cause weight gain... but didn't tell me before he injected me!

I've since heard it can cause bone thinning if you use it long term and fertility can take around a year to get back to normal.

I'd warn anyone to be very wary of depo provera...

I've tried loads of different pills before and after taking depo, all with horrible side effects (and weight gain), the most recent was Marvelon, which made me unbelievably depressed and nauseous. I came off it at Christmas.

I've now accepted that the only contraception than suits me are barrier methods... so it's back to condoms for me...
Hi,

I came off depo around a year ago. Purely as we're looking at trying for a family in the next year or so.
Personally I had none of those symptoms during or after. Everyone is different so you may be lucky!
Best wishes.
X.
