I can't believe the ECG won't be till next week! Surely his surgery can do one on the spot?

If you are really worried why not pitch up at A&E?

hmm you have a good point. next week might be too late.
Panic Button is right.
They can carry out tests in the surgery, but to be on the safe side and you sound really worried about this, I would call an ambulance the next time you get chest pains: they will take you to A&E where you will be monitored and bloods done to check if it is a heart attack or not.
It is probably something simple but you appear to be so worried.
Put your mind at ease. Never take chances. Good Luck.

Thank you cruella thats a good advice. I am worried I have daughter's wedding to attend to and son tosort out. I have'nt lived yet.
It may be something as simple as indigestion, don't worry too much or the stress you are putting yourself through will have a detrimental effect on your ticker. Only worry when and if you have something to worry about.
As 4GS says it may be something quite simple and not actually connected to your heart. I used to have these awful stabbing pains in the heart region, it really felt like I was being stabbed. When I was having an 'attack' I couldn't move because of the awful pain, and this could go on for half an hour. It turned out to be neuralgia (which is a pain in a nerve). It's more common in the face, but I had it in my chest!
So please don't worry too much, it may not be your heart at all. I'm sure if your Doctor thought that you were about to die he would have had you admitted to hospital there and then.
