My 10 month old daughter has the measles and I was wondering if anyone who has had it and was older can tell me if its an itchy rash?
She mainly leaves it alone but she is scratching her eyes really badly (she has it inside her eyelids)
We were told that its not usually an itchy rash

She may just be rubbing at it because it is irritating being inside her eyelid, and not because it is itching. Other than calling your doctors to see if there is anything to help ease it, the only thing you can really do is keep trying to distract her when she goes to rub her eye.

Hope she gets better soon!
i had measles when i was 16. its not itchy. one thing you do need to know is to keep her away from bright lights. it really irritates your eyes. it took two weeks for my eye sight to return to normal. your 10 month old is less affected because shes so young. the older you are the worse it is. hope this helps.

We are living with the blinds shut for now!
Thanks both, unfortunately she cant have anytthing for it even though its one of the more serious strains of measles :-(
Hello boobesque , keep a watch on your little ones eyes and seek your gps opinion if she keeps rubbing them , sometimes measles can give rise to secondary infections of the chest and of the eyes , which would be easily treated.
All the best :-)

Lore! Long time no speak! I txtd you the other week.
How are things?
It's usually chickenpox that has the itchy rash, if her body is very itchy, run her a bath that is just blood heat and dissolve a cupful of bicarb of soda in there and bathe her with this each day, it calms the itch of chickenpox so may help with this, you could also try bathing her eyes with luke warm (previously boiled) water with a small teaspoon of salt in. may help, certainly won't hurt her as all natural no chemicals. Hope she is better soon.
