I was wondering if anyone knew which drug is best to take for headaches, I just took some ibruprofen for my headache but has since been warned by someone that its really bad for you. It says on the packet that they can be taken for headaches and migraines but my friend said they were only for muscles? Can anyone please shed some light on this?

your friend is wrong, they are not just for muscles. they contain anti-inflammatory properties so are recommended for aches and pains all over the body, and this includes headaches. go by what it says on the packet.
On the 'its really bad for you' - only if abused. As ethandron says go by the packet and you will be in no danger of overdosing
They can be bad for you if they are repeatedly taken on an empty stomach and over a long period of time. Having said that, paracetamol can be bad for you as well. But that goes for all drugs.

Basically, stick to the directions on the box (as with all medicines) and you'll be fine. And yes, they can be taken for headaches. If it works for you then great! :-)
PARACETAMOL = analgeasic (painkiller)
anti-pyretic (reduces temperature)

IBUPROFEN = analgeasic
anti-pyretic
anti-inflamitory

the downside of ibuprofen (or aspirin) is that it can upset stomachs especially if taken on an empty stomach. Its not suitable for those who have stomach ulcers or asthma. However i find it very effective for headaches sorethroats and especiaally good for period pains. when im really poorly i use both painkillers, paracetamol 4 times in 24hrs and the iburoffen 3 times in 24hours. hope this helps lillea.
Try 4Head. It`s great for headaches
