cat with bladder problem

I have a 7 year old male cat . He has been very ill with bladder problems . He has been hospatilized 5 times in the last twelve months . He came out two weeks ago but I had to take him back in yesterday where he will spend a few days . He suffers from flutd . He is on Hills cd food
but we just cant find a cure . It is just so upsetting to see him in pain plus its costing me a fortune in vets fees .
Is there anyone with any experience of this with their cat ?
